contract to adopt
A contract to adopt another as a child of the latter which is usually ineffective to complete a legal adoption in itself, but, even if not consummated and given legal effect by adoption proceedings during the lifetime of the adopting parent, may, upon the latter's death be enforced by declaring a right of inheritance in favor of the child. 2 Am J2d Adopt § 8.
