certificate of sale
A certificate given by the sheriff or other officer conducting a sale under execution, in a jurisdiction where such a sale is subject to redemption by the owner or execution defendant for a fixed period of time, which declares the making of a sale to a designated purchaser and the right of the purchaser to receive a deed from the sheriff or other officer upon presentation of the certificate after the expiration of the redemption period. 30 Am J2d Exec § 393 et seq. certificate of sale for taxes.
