testimonium clause
The clause in a written instrument, otherwise known as a testatum clause, such as "in witness whereof," by which the act and date of execution is directed to the writing. Arrington v Arrington, 122 Ala 510, 26 So 152. An attestation clause. 13 Am J2d Bonds § 12. In the case of a corporation grantor, the testatum clause recites that the corporation has caused its corporate seal to be affixed and its corporate name to be signed by its duly authorized officers. Kelly v Calhoun, 95 US 710, 24 L Ed 544. See attestation clause.
