Atlantic Charter
The statement of principles, made jointly by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, representing the United States, and Prime Minister Winston Churchill, representing the United Kingdom, on August 14, 1941, in the desire to make known to the world the national policies of the two countries in a world then beset by aggression which, if successful, would have struck a disabling blow against the great democracies of the world.
