A mock ceremony for shaming conjugal seducers, once common in parts of England. The usual practice was to place effigies of the persons on a pole, in a cart or on a donkey and carry them through the public streets amid the jeers of the populace. See Cropp v Tilney (Eng) 3 Salkeld 225.
