Quod non valet in principali, in accessorio seu consequenti non valebit; et quod non valet in magis propinquo, non valebit in magis remoto

That which is not valid as to the principal matter will not be valid as to the accessory or consequential matter; and that which is not valid as to the more proximate matter will not be valid as to the more remote matter.
