presence

presence
The bearing or personality of a person. The fact of being at a place at a particular time. The meaning of the word depends upon the circumstances. No one can accurately define it. It implies an area which has no metes and bounds. Anything done within the four walls of a room which is free from outside interference is usually done in the presence of all who are in the room whether it is seen or not. But proximity and consciousness may create presence. Nock v Nock's Exrs. 51 Va (10 Gratt) 106, 117. See constructive presence.
