magistrate's certificate
A certificate required by the terms of some fire insurance policies to accompany proofs of loss, to be procured by the insured from the nearest magistrate, notary public, or other officer, stating that the loss was sustained without fraud. Kelly v Sun Fire Office, 141 Pa 10.
