A letter commending the services of a former employee and speaking of him in such terms as will tend to bring him to the favorable notice of one to whom he may apply for employment; sometimes being directed to whom it may concern and handed to the former employee to be carried by him, and sometimes directed specially to one to whom he proposes to make application for employment. 35 Am J1st M & S § 39.
