An improvement district established under government authority to accomplish the purpose of irrigation by the united efforts of landowners. 30 Am J Rev ed Irrig § 60. A public debtor within the meaning of the provisions of the Bankruptcy Act for the composition of the indebtedness of certain public agencies or instrumentalities. 9 Am J2d Bankr § 1416. Sometimes regarded as a governmental subdivision. Platt Valley & I. Dist. v Lincoln County, 144 Neb 584, 14 NW2d 202, 155 ALR 412. Not a public service corporation in the sense of being a common carrier, since its operations are confined to the business of carrying and supplying water for the irrigation of lands within its area.
