hide
A raw or tanned skin of an animal. An ancient measure of land, a quantity of land which could be worked by one team of oxen. The number of acres contained in a hide varies in the works of different writers and has been variously estimated at from thirty to one hundred and twenty. See conceal; secrete; treasure trove.
