The department of government, headed by the President in the case of the United States Government and by the governor in the case of a state government, in whom the executive, as distinguished from the legislative or judicial, power is vested. 16 Am J2d Const L § 216. One of the major administrative or executive agencies of the federal or a state government, such as the State Department, War Department, Department of Justice, etc.
