The management by a fiduciary, such as an executor, administrator, receiver, trustee, guardian, etc. of the estate which comes into his custody and possession by virtue of his office, including, as the fiduciary may be authorized by law, the collection of assets, the conservation and sale of property, instituting and defending actions on behalf of the estate, distribution of assets, and reporting to the court.
