debts of decedent

debts of decedent
All claims of creditors enforceable in law or equity. 31 Am J2d Ex & Ad § 276. As it appears in a will, the term means obligations of the decedent due or expected to become due in his lifetime. Nolte v Nolte, 247 Iowa 868, 76 NW2d 881, 56 ALR2d 854. Some authority has construed the term as including expenses of administration. Re Dickey, 87 Ohio App 255, 94 NE2d 223, 20 ALR2d 1220 (term appearing in a will). Some authority construes a widow's allowance as a "debt of the decedent." 31 Am J2d Ex & Ad § 324. But unanimity upon such construction is not to be expected.
